Transitioning to Higher Standards

Educators nationwide agree on the urgent need to raise the bar on student achievement. Every state is increasing the rigor of standards and the expectations of assessments. Whether using the Common Core State Standards or other College and Career-Ready standards, teachers are being asked to transform both what is taught as well as how it is taught. Educators are being called upon to prepare EVERY student—an increasingly diverse set of learners—for increased expectations.
Building upon its legacy in rigor and relevance and its systemic approach to student achievement, the International Center is uniquely positioned to help your teachers implement higher standards, prepare for more rigorous and application-based assessments, and prepare students for successful futures.
We partner with schools and districts to help educators at all levels:
- Assess readiness for new standards and assessments
- Develop awareness and buy-in around the need for change
- Understand instructional shifts
- Identify the gaps from one set of standards to the other and prioritize instruction accordingly
- Design next generation curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Change instructional practices in every classroom
Alongside its partners, the International Center has worked with countless schools and districts to transition to higher standards and assessments—including Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Assessments, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), and other state standards and assessments. We work with school and district leaders, literacy teachers and staff, math teachers and staff, and content-area teachers to ensure every element of the system is aligned around a shared goal of preparing students for success in college and careers.
